Fifth WHO Global Forum on Human Resources for Health

Date:  3 to 5 April, 2023
Host:  Partners

The Forum will be held under the theme of Protecting, safeguarding, and investing in the health and care workforce. Marking more than five years since the adoption of the Global Strategy on Human Resources for Health: Workforce 2030, the Forum will provide updates on progress in its implementation and share evidence and experiences on workforce development, as well as opportunities for a post COVID-19 era that will inform the implementation of the Working for Health 2022-2030 Action Plan.

Equitable distribution of human resources for health (HRH) is paramount to meet the health needs of the population. Health workforce shortage is a main concern worldwide: geographical gaps, inadequate distribution and migration impact the access to essential health services, especially in remote and rural areas and prevent the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

IHF is hosting a session that will help provide concrete and creative solutions that hospitals and health systems have been developing to retain their workforce. This session will focus on the challenges of HRH retention and will provide concrete and creative solutions that hospitals and health systems have been developing to retain their workforce.

Several IHF members will be presenting in this session. These are the following: Australia (Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association), Colombia (Colombian Association of Hospitals and Clinics), France (French Hospital Federation), Germany (German Hospital Federation) and Tanzania (Aga Khan Health Service).

The event is free and open to all.
