Dr Sharon Wong earned her medical degree and master degree in public health from the University of Hong Kong. She had her clinical practice in obstetrics and gynaecology in public hospital services before joining the healthcare administration. She completed the specialist training in administrative medicine and obtained the fellowships of the Hong Kong College of Community Medicine and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Community Medicine). She is also the fellows of Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, Australasian College of Health Service Management and Hong Kong College of Health Service Executives.

She is now the Chief Manager of Medical Grade Department in the Hospital Authority Head Office (HAHO), responsible for coordinating the manpower and training arrangement of the medical workforce in hospitals. Prior to this position, she was the Senior Manager of the Strategy & Service Planning Department in the HAHO, responsible for the annual planning process, service planning on priority clinical areas at corporate level, as well as planning and commissioning of new hospital projects.
