Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience: Global Summit
The Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience (PHSSR) Global Summit took place on 22 and 23 November 2022, and featured Sonia Roschnik, Executive Director of the Geneva Sustainability Centre as a panellist.
In a session chaired by Robert Metzke of Phillips, the panel discussed what is happening in different countries, including Switzerland, Canada, France and Belgium, and the current status of hospitals and health systems in terms of developing net zero, resilient and sustainable services. They also identified some areas for action.
Sonia shared that, using the GSC Sustainability Accelerator teaser developed for participants at the 45th IHF World Hospital Congress, 45.6% of hospitals and systems identified themselves as low maturity. The picture from this global forum session highlighted that there is plenty of room for improvement and better coordination. The good news is that most countries, systems and hospitals are committing to do more, and many collaborations such as the PHSSR are helping to drive shared research and learning.
Frederic Rimattei concluded the session with the positive message:
“Hospitals are ready (for more).”
