German Hospital Federation / Deutsche Krankenhausgesellschaft - DKGEV

As a federal association, the German Hospital Society (DKG) represents 28 member associations of hospital operators: 16 state associations, 12 central associations. With this variety of sponsors, the German Hospital Society represents the entire spectrum of hospital interests.

The DKG supports the hospitals in federal politics. As the umbrella organization of hospital operators, it champions the interests and concerns of hospitals. As the voice of the hospitals, the DKG represents the hospitals in all health policy decisions, which is why the careful analysis of current health policy and public relations are other central tasks of the German Hospital Society.

Thanks to the close cooperation with its 28 members, the DKG can prepare and implement legal developments related to hospitals. In addition to its political tasks, the German Hospital Society has set itself the goal of public dialogue, the exchange of experiences and the support of scientific research.

The German Hospital Society is part of the self-government in the healthcare system. Together with the other partners of self-government - health insurance companies, medical associations and nursing associations - it decides on all important hospital-related issues. The reimbursement system in the hospital system and the assurance of quality in the inpatient area are largely shaped by the self-administration of the German Hospital Society. The German Hospital Society is a member of the Federal Joint Committee. This makes binding decisions on cross-sectoral issues of outpatient and inpatient care.

At the European and international level, the DKG represents the German hospitals in the International Hospital Federation (IHF) and in the European Hospital Association (European Hospital and Healthcare Federation/HOPE).
