IHF’s Geneva Sustainability Centre at the 8th HCAC Conference in Jordan
On 26 November 2025, the Geneva Sustainability Centre was represented by Aditi Jayaram, at the 8th Healthcare Accreditation Council Conference held in Amman, Jordan. During the session on “Sustainability in Healthcare”, Aditi delivered a presentation titled “An international approach to sustainable healthcare transformation,” highlighting the GSC’s integrated strategy for empowering hospitals to become sustainability leaders within their communities.
Her presentation outlined the GSC’s holistic framework for low-carbon, equitable, and resilient healthcare systems, demonstrating how a comprehensive, evidence-based approach can help institutions embed sustainability across clinical, operational, and governance domains. She also showcased insights from the Sustainability Accelerator Tool (SAT), a practical self-assessment and benchmarking platform currently used by 80 hospitals across 26 countries. The SAT enables organizations to evaluate their sustainability maturity, track progress over time, benchmark globally, and define strategic priorities for improvement.
Drawing on global examples from the IHF membership the session illustrated how hospitals are already achieving meaningful results, from reducing emissions in clinical pathways to engaging staff in sustainability initiatives and strengthening governance mechanisms that support long-term climate resilience.
The session concluded with a call to action, encouraging healthcare leaders to:
- Champion a culture of sustainability across all levels of the organization
- Integrate sustainability into everyday decision-making, clinical and operational
- Collaborate widely to advance healthier, more resilient communities
