Apollo Hospitals Group invites IHF Members to join a movement to institutionalize everyday acts of kindness, building health systems of kindness worldwide.

Titled “The Kindness Pandemic”, the movement is built on nine core principles that make up the Kindness Charter. These principles recognize that kindness is not only about individual behaviour; it must also be supported by leadership, workflows, policies, and culture.

Hear from Dr Preetha Reddy (Executive Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Group) and Dr Anupam Sibal (Group Medical Director, Apollo Hospitals Group) as they share their vision for the Kindness Pandemic – a global movement that gives healthcare institutions a shared language, a practical method, and a community of peers.

The foundation of the movement is the Kindness Charter – a voluntary declaration of commitment to humane, respectful, and person-centred care consisting on nine principles:

  1. kindness to self
  2. families and caregivers
  3. colleagues
  4. patients
  5. communication
  6. decision-making
  7. systems and processes
  8. communities
  9. the unseen or unfamiliar.

As hospitals and health systems and other actors in the healthcare sector join the movement, kindness becomes a shared standard of humane care. A Kindness Toolkit it available, providing guides, templates, good practice examples and success stories to inspire leaders to make kindness a part of daily operations across the care journey.

At an individual level, healthcare workers, patients, caregivers and others can also endorse the Charter and log their everyday acts of kindness, making every day acts of kindness visible and shareable.

“IHF Members know that exceptional healthcare depends not only on clinical excellence, but also on how people are treated. Kindness is not a soft skill. It is a leadership imperative that strengthens trust, supports workforce wellbeing, and improves the experience of care. The Kindness Pandemic shines a spotlight on kindness as a practical force for better workplaces, stronger teams, and better outcomes for patients and communities and we congratulate Apollo Hospitals Group (a Premier Associate Member for the last 5 years and a strong contributor to many IHF programmes) on championing this important initiative.”
