Representing the voice of the IHF at OECD working meetings

On 6–7 May, representing the IHF network, Nicola Pinelli (FIASO, Italy) participated in the OECD Health Committee Working Party on healthcare quality and outcomes. Topics discussed included gender and health, long-term care, dementia and integrated care, cardiovascular health, diagnostic safety, and hospital planning for health care quality.

Mr Pinelli shared the principal national policies currently in force in Italy, as well as ongoing reform efforts. Specific attention was devoted to measures aimed at reducing inequalities in access to care, reinforcing integrated care models for individuals with chronic conditions, and promoting a data-driven, value-based approach to healthcare delivery.

Particular emphasis at the meeting was placed on the implementation of Ministerial Decree No. 77/2022, which provides the regulatory framework for the re-organization of community-based healthcare, as well as on the development of monitoring tools grounded in clinical outcome and equity indicators.

The multilateral engagement with delegates from other Member States provided a valuable opportunity to examine innovative governance models, sustainability strategies, and inter-institutional coordination mechanisms. This exchange contributed meaningfully to the advancement of international dialogue on inclusive, resilient, and quality-oriented health policies.
