Dr. Cynthia Omina currently serves as the Head of Clinical Services at AAR Hospital, a leading Level 5 private healthcare facility in Nairobi, Kenya. With a diverse blend of clinical and operational expertise, Dr. Omina is a dynamic healthcare executive committed to enhancing health service delivery and strengthening health systems. In her current role, she plays a pivotal part in enhancing clinical governance, ensuring high standards of healthcare quality, and strategically aligning healthcare operations with both clinical and business objectives.

Dr. Omina’s professional experience spans both clinical practice and healthcare management, with a proven track record in transforming healthcare facilities to optimize performance and align with best practices. Notably, she has successfully worked with organizations that are Joint Commission-accredited, guiding them from the inception of the accreditation process through to achieving and maintaining this prestigious status. Her leadership in driving clinical and operational excellence has enabled her to build robust healthcare ecosystems that prioritize patient-centered care.

In addition to her role at AAR Hospital, Dr. Omina has also contributed significantly to the strategic development of a Level 6B private hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, where she helped steer the institution towards both growth and clinical excellence. Her experience working with private equity-funded healthcare investments further solidified her expertise in navigating the complexities of healthcare financing and implementing value-based healthcare delivery models.

Dr. Omina is also an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), where she collaborates with global healthcare leaders to exchange knowledge, best practices, and strategies for improving healthcare systems worldwide. Her passion for global health, quality improvement, and health systems strengthening drives her advocacy for sustainable healthcare models that prioritize long-term improvements and accessibility for all. Dr. Omina holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Nairobi, a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Liverpool, majoring in Health Systems Management, and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Strathmore Business School. She is a Young Executive Leader by the International Hospital Federation Cohort of 2022 and a WomenLift Health East Africa Signature Leadership Journey 2024 Fellow.
