Mina Cheng graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 2007. She started off as an Otorhinolaryngology trainee and ended up receiving her basic and higher surgical training in General Surgery after she found her real interest. She is now a General Surgeon in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with special interest in Vascular and Trauma Surgery. She obtained her fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2014 and was awarded the Li Shield’s Gold Medal for her outstanding performance in the examination. Her presentation and publication on management of haemodynamically unstable pelvic fractures was awarded the best Asia Pacific scientific paper on Trauma by the American College of Surgeons in 2014. She was recognized by the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in 2015 as one of the distinguished young fellows. She was one of the awardees of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Selection 2019 in Hong Kong organized by the Junior Chamber International. She also received the Young Achiever Awards of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Outside her surgical practice, she is an amateur runnier, hiker and violinist.
