Dr Moustafa, M.Sc, BDS, FDEF, DPH, FIHI, is currently working as Senior Specialist Healthcare Quality Improvement Programs, Healthcare Facilities Quality Division in Healthcare Facilities Sector in the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, UAE. His work to date has focused on the intersection of medicine, performance management, clinical operations, patient safety and quality improvement science, and technology to improve healthcare delivery system-wide.
Prior to this, he was leading Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Rahba Hospital, Behavioural Science pavilion and Corniche Hospital overseeing multiple innovative healthcare performance and improvement projects. He is focusing on performance management, clinical operations, patient safety and quality improvement science, and technology to improve healthcare delivery system-wide.
Dr Moustafa earned his Bachelor degree in Dental and Oral Surgery from Misr University for science and technology then Dental Fellowship in Family Dentistry, Diploma in public health and hospital administration and master’s degree in healthcare quality management from Alexandria University’s high institute of public health. Then Fellowship from Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in Boston, Massachusetts – USA.
This practice in the field, coupled with a genuine passion for healthcare redesign to optimize patient outcomes were recognized by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in the form of an IHI Fellowship award and IHI Fellow title. He is also a graduate of the YEL programme in 2022 and an active member of the Alumni network since then, as an Ambassador last year and as an YEL Alumni Advisor this year.
