Maria Rubio Valera

Head of Quality and Patient Safety
Young Executive Leaders 2022

Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Deu, Spain

Maria Rubio Valera is the Head of Quality and Patient Safety (Q&PS) Unit at the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu (PSSJD). She is also the Principal Investigator (PI) of the PRISMA Research Group at PSSJD where I am the holder of an ERC Starting Grant.

As the Head of the Q&PS Unit, Maria’s responsibilities include monitoring the strategy for accreditation, monitoring and supporting Hospital and Health Services to minimise patient harm, and implementing and evaluating quality improvement projects to reduce variations in health care and achieve high-quality patient care. As the PI of the PRISMA Research Group, her responsibilities include obtaining grants and developing research project, participating in national and international research networks, training pre-doctoral students and disseminating her research to the scientific community and the general population.

Through the Young Executive Leaders Programme, Maria expects to have the opportunity to exchange ideas and conduct comparisons across countries and hospitals management styles that will help her learn and get new ideas that she can incorporate into her hospital.

Ideally, Maria would like also to bond with the members of the programme and create a stable long-lasting collaboration as well as to identify international key leaders to contact to get some guidance when engaging in challenging projects at PSSJD.
