Mentoring Circles programme

In January 2025, the IHF launched a mentoring circles pilot aimed at fostering leadership growth, peer support, and professional development for women leaders within the IHF membership. Four regional circles were established, each guided by a dedicated circle lead. Based on learning from the pilot phase, we are excited to offer a more structured programme in 2026, with support from ACHE.

What is a mentoring circle?

A mentoring circle brings together a small group of professionals to cultivate mutual support and shared learning. Rather than a one-on-one mentoring relationship, members engage collectively to explore leadership experiences, professional challenges, and personal growth. These circles thrive on trust, open communication, and the exchange of diverse perspectives, providing rich networking opportunities and community-building.

How does it work?

Each IHF mentoring circle includes 6 to 10 members, grouped by region to accommodate convenient meeting times. Circles meet monthly, either virtually or in person, depending on participants’ preferences and availability. The structure is intentionally flexible. Each group defines its own goals and meeting format. Sessions may include:

- Sharing leadership experiences or professional challenges
- Peer coaching on a member’s specific issue
- Presentations from within the group
- Guest speakers offering insights and inspiration

The goal is to create a space that supports growth, connection, and empowerment among women in health leadership.

How to get involved

To find out more about the programme, or to sign-up to a mentoring circle in 2026, please contact Ilona Johnston. Please note that the mentoring circles are only open to women leaders from within the IHF membership.
