Innovation Hub

i-to-i – from innovation to implementation

Launched in 2023, the IHF Innovation Hub is an exciting addition to the content and activities at the World Hospital Congress.

The Innovation Hub at WHC2023

Spotlighting unique technological solutions to challenges encountered in healthcare delivery at the IHF's annual World Hospital Congress, the Hub showcased novel products which have had a transformative impact on improving access and increasing efficiency of sustainable, high-quality, patient-centred care. In 2023, the i-to-i Innovation Hub theme wase extending the delivery of hospital care outside of the traditional hospital setting. Innovations were clinical (virtual nursing, no-touch vital signs, new generation telemedicine) or non-clinical (medication management, access, patient education).

Discover 2023's Hub innovators

Building the hospital of the future

From workforce to AI, and climate change to pandemics, major shifts in the healthcare landscape will require hospitals of the future to look and operate very differently. The Innovation Hub is presented in collaboration with the Healthcare UK - part of the UK's Department for Business and Trade, and Stanford Medicine.

Participants at the World Hospital Congress visited the Hub throughout the event, following its pre-Congress launch on 24 October, to explore the innovations being presented. At the Hub, visitors interacted with the innovators and shared learnings beyond the technology itself, such as change management, measuring impact, and overcoming roadblocks.

World Hospital Congress: Hub activities in the programme

The Hub showcased 15 innovative products which exemplify the 2023 theme to encourage learning around their implementation and adoption by hospital leaders. Examples include innovations in virtual care in the home and the next generation of telemedicine.

Taking the stage at IHF Lisbon

Igniting conversation at Congress

The two sets of Innovation Ignite Talks drew a packed crowd to the Congress' Spotlight Stage.

Each innovator gave a five-minute talk on their product, explaining its development, value, and potential for healthcare delivery in different settings worldwide. The audience then engaged in a lively Q&A session with the innovators.

Steering Committee

Our panel of healthcare innovation leaders use their experience and knowledge of the healthcare sector to select the novel products and innovations exhibited at the Hub.
